Did You Backup Your Site Today?
This is the greatest lesson, I must admit, from the recent accident, I faced. I was not ignorant though! Buried deep down below the huge pile of tasks and ‘the almost whole day load shedding schedule‘ hardly allowed me to accomplish the most essentials. New PS Exam did just stood up on its own. There were merely 40 links indexed in Google. It just started creeping its small and shiny face in the world of websites. This might be the reason, it came below the priority; and I was never able to acquire the backup copy.
Who know when the tide is timed! The bud of flame extinguished just in front of my eyes when i was updating the last post. At first, Firefox started to show ‘website taking too long time‘. Sooner the whole domain was sinking in the ocean of www. This is pretty normal for average sites and servers. Waited patiently for two days. Did contact the administrators. Finally concluded to shift PS Exam to a new hosting – another plannet.
After achieved the new hosting service, I started to scratch every pebbles and rocks from my backup directory and uploaded, hassled, Mt. Everest of configurations and settings, careful enough to retain intact as many links as possible since more than 4000s were already indexed with nice PR. The highest priority, the oldest tree with lots of apples on it, my PS Exam was restored and I was relieved. Thank you Suresh Khanal for bring me to life again! Though the foundation, the ground on which PS Exam was erected was unstable and the ground crumbled away, I was able to implant it in a new planet.
Now, the turn of New PS Exam and you witnessed the situation. Today, New PS Exam is not what it was. Yes, it looks great now but I lost everything what it had earned. All of those subscribe ( I hope they will love it again), All of those articles (you know very well each single article demands not less than hours of hard work), all those links that were indexed on Google; and everything. Yes everything!
That’s why, I asked you, did you backup your site today?
